    Newbold Auditorium

Since 1996, Mark Moreno has been a steady, inspiring presence in the School of Architecture & Interior Design. He is known for his thoughtful teaching, genuine care for people and belief that design is something that shapes real lives. He founded Renaissance Kids, a summer program where children get to dive into creativity, design and placemaking through fun, hands-on projects.

Over the years, Professor Moreno has taught everything from
Placemaking and Person to Kitchen and Bath Design. He’s worked professionally both independently and with architecture firms, bringing practical experience straight into the classroom. He has also shared his ideas at conferences around the world, and his dedication was recognized with the Daniel A. Augsburger Excellence in Teaching Award (2011) and the Heart @ Andrews Award (2018).

With degrees from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and the University of Texas at Arlington, his work highlights how people connect with built environments—focusing on walkability, community identity and learning through experience. May he continue to inspire and serve others in the years ahead.
