Women's Scholarship Committee Invites Applications

Campus Announcements | Posted on February 18, 2016

The Andrews University Women's Scholarship Committee scholarship applications for graduate women students for the 2016-17 school year are now available in paper form at the administrative assistant's desk in the Department of English in Nethery Hall or through email attachment by writing Stella Greig at greigs@andrews.edu. Please put "WSC Scholarships" in the subject line. Completed applications are due noon, Friday, March 12.

There are two kinds of application forms. One form is for the Steele Scholarship, which is for women who have served as crosscultural missionaries for at least four years and who are working on a graduate degree in any of the University schools. The other form is a general application for women working on a graduate degree in any of the University schools. Unfortunately, we do not have scholarships for undergraduate women students at this time.

General application forms will be considered for several different named scholarships (which have their own criteria--e.g., must be: a Seminary student, a School of Education student in educational or counseling psychology, or a student working on a music degree, etc.), as well as the more general WSC Advisory Scholarship and Honored Women Scholarship. To give applicants the best chance to receive an award, the committee will determine for which scholarship an application fits best.

Along with the application form, students will need to request letters of recommendation from two different individuals (either from two of her professors or a professor and a work supervisor). The letters of recommendation should include the professor/supervisor's assessment of the worthiness of the applicant in terms of scholarship, work habits and the likelihood that the student will meet her goals. Scholarship funds awarded are to be applied towards tuition for the 2016-17 school year, which begins with the 2016 summer sessions.

Questions may be sent to greigs@andrews.edu.
